Engine Specs and performance

Although there has not been any official announcements by the
manufacturer, according to some speculations, under the hood of
the Toyota Tundra 2016 will be the latest Cummins 5-liter turbo
V8 diesel engine. The diesel engine has an output of 500
pound-feet of torque and 300 horsepower. This unit will enhance
fuel economy significantly, which is the main reason for Toyota
opting for a diesel engine. The average fuel
consumption should be around 30 mpg. With this powerplant
2016 Toyota Tundra’s towing capacity should be much better than
current 10,500 pounds.

Of course, there are also well-known petrol engines that have
not changed much.  The smallest petrol engine is a 4-liter
V6 that will be carried over from the previous generation that
will provide up to 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.
After it will be a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and a 5.7-liter V8.
Power on these two will range from 310 to 381 horsepower
and 327 to 401 lb-ft of torque. The strongest gasoline engine
is a 5.7 liter supercharged V8, that is going to provide in
excess of 550 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. All
engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

So far, Toyota has officially confirmed two engines for the new
Tundra 4.6-liter V8 and 5.7 liter V8, while other still just
rumors.

The new Tundra 2016 will be available in several models
and trim levels, SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum,
1794 Edition, TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road.
