The current Jeep Wrangler has been in the market since 2007.
Since then, except for an engine change, the Wrangler has only
received minor tweaks. The automaker is finally planning to
release a new model of the Wrangler set to be released in 2016
as a 2017 model year vehicle.
The new model will be the fourth in its generation. The 2017
Jeep Wrangler will be redesigned in all fronts, from the
exterior, to the cabin all the way to under its hood.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Exterior
From the outside, the Wrangler looks tougher but with a more
modern exterior profile compared to its predecessors. The new
vehicle is 152.8 inches long, 73.7 inches wide and 70.9 inches
tall. The vehicle has an excellent ground clearance of 8.8
inches which makes its excellent in different terrain. Its
wheelbase spans 95.4 inches.
The new body will be constructed using aluminum meaning it will
be lighter which will translate to a better fuel economy.
According to credible sources, the vehicle will have a unibody
platform as opposed to the old body on frame platform. Though
the vehicle comes with an attractive and modern design, the
vehicle retains its traditional look. At the front, the
Wrangler gets a larger bonnet as well as a white damper which
makes it more attractive.
The vehicle also gets a new grille with slits. Other features
include a soft-top convertible roof and a fixed hoop which
improves protection in case of a roll over. The vehicle will be
offered in either 2-door or 4-door bodies. Since the Wrangler
is a full off-road vehicle, expect large wheels wrapped in
high-performing, all terrain tires.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Interior
On the inside, the 2017 Jeep Wrangler will be significantly
redesigned. The vehicle will have a roomy cabin courtesy
of the new platform which also helps create a more comfortable
and unique interior design compared to predecessor models.
Though official details are not yet out, it is rumored that the
new Wrangler will feature a new infotainment system and a new
sound system with a CD and MP3 Player.
For safety, the Jeep Wrangler 2017 features stability control,
electronic traction control, ABS and 3-point adjustable seat
belts. The driver and front passenger seats will also have
multi-stage front airbags. The cabin will accommodate five
passengers on seats wrapped in a quality soft material. Front
seats will have center armrests for extra comfort.
The vehicle also has a 12 V outlet that enables charging of
laptops and tablets. The automaker is keeping official specs a
closely guarded secret so kindly check later for more updates.
Under the hood of the new Wrangler, there will be two new
engines to replace the old engine which has been discontinued.
The first of the new engines is a twin-turbocharged 3.0 L,
Pentastar V6 engine capable of producing 300 hp and over 350
lb-ft of torque.
The second engine will be a twin-turbocharged V6 diesel unit
capable of delivering around 240 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Though EPA ratings are not yet out, the automaker estimates the
vehicle to deliver 23 mpg in city and 30 mpg on highway.
Price and release date
Jeep is yet to make official details on the Wrangler’s release
date or price. However, we expect the vehicle to arrive at
dealer showrooms in the first half of 2016.
The new Wrangler will be slightly expensive than the outgoing
model. It will have a starting price of around $ 28,000 MSRP
while the diesel variant will attract around $ 3,000 more.
