2017 Mazda CX-4

Do you remember the Mazda Koeru concept that was showcased at
the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show? Well, the Japanese automaker is
set to release its production version dubbed the 2017 Mazda

The automaker has even released a teaser image of the model
though the image was not very revealing. Nonetheless, our spy
photographers caught up with a disguised model undergoing
testing. Read along to find out more on this toned down version
of the fancy Koeru compact crossover concept;

The teaser image released by the automaker doesn’t reveal its
clear design; however, from our spy shots, we can see a lot of
resemblance with the Koeru concept. The automaker took the
Koeru design features and tweaked it to more
production-friendly designs. The crossover features the similar
KODO-styled front. It features a huge, shield-shaped grille and
a sculpted hood. Its grille features a chrome surround which
extends to the thin, swept-back LED headlamps and LED DRLs. It
also features boomerang-shaped fog lights which are integrated
with the bumper.

At the rear, the CX-4 features large taillights and a thick
chrome strip that connects them. It has dual exhaust pipes that
pop out close to the ground and are not attached to the bumper
like those of the Koeru concept. Its lower tailgate has a
smooth design while the widescreen is taller than the one on
the Koeru while the rear bumper looks more utilitarian.

Overall, the model looks sporty just like the Koeru concept.
The roof is higher than the Koeru though. Its door handles are
a bit ordinary while its wheels are not very attractive but
overall the crossover looks superb.

2017 Mazda CX-4 Interior

According to the spy shots of the cabin, the interior is not as
fancy as that of the Koeru concept. It looks much more like the
one on the CX-5.  However, the cabin features a good deal
of premium features such as leather upholstery with contrast
stitching, aluminum inserts among others. It features a similar
center stack design as the CX-5 and an infotainment system
mounted above its rectangular-shaped A/C vents.

The cabin is less roomy though compared that of the CX-5. The
CX-4 has a taller glass house compared to the concept making it
less cramped at the rear than the Koeru.

Buyers will love its 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, the
automaker’s 3-piece instrument cluster (similar to the one on
the McLaren 650S) and an infotainment screen which pops out of
the dash. It features Mazda’s CONNECT infotainment system which
has a dial controller on the floor console. The crossover will
accommodate five passengers.

That is as much as we were able to decipher from the spy shots,
we will update you with more information once it becomes
